Fox Harb’r Restaurant

Fox Harb’r Restaurant
Conceived as a link between Fox Harb’r Resort and the surrounding community, this new restaurant offers a shared place to gather, dine and experience Nova Scotia’s coastal landscape. The design brings together the ease of a neighbourhood gathering place with the care and refinement of the resort, welcoming visitors and local residents alike.

The building takes shape as a wood shingle shell, anchored by a stone chimney and carved away to create sheltered spaces along its perimeter. Within these recesses, warm vertical wood boards line the walls and continue across the soffit, framing a covered outdoor dining area and protected entries. The contrast between the textured shingles and the warmth of the recessed wood surfaces gives the building a familiar coastal character and an inviting sense of arrival.

At either end of the dining space, curved glazing opens expansive views across the vineyard to the harbour beyond. A cathedral ceiling lends openness to the room, while dormers introduce daylight from above, bringing changing light into the heart of the restaurant. Together, these spaces balance the intimacy of gathering beneath a sheltering roof with the expansive experience of the surrounding landscape.
